Couple’s Massage Classes
Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 | Featured, Seattle Events | No Comments
I’ve been wanting to do Couple’s massage classes for ages but just didn’t get on the ball about until now.
Here are the details:
Location:
Arcania Wellness Center 609 10th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98102 (Capital Hill)
Rates: $100 per couple, for December (the first-time class - crafting the experience with the teacher:) Jan/Feb rate: TBA
Dates:
Saturday, December 6th
Saturday, January 17th
Saturday, February 7th
Saturday, February 14th
Sunday, February 15th.
Time Frame:
Starts at 11am and ends at 5pm.
Schedule of Class:
11:00am - 1:00pm - Start out the class with greet and meet - then we go into “lecture”/learning time, have a demo and then we will segue into hands-on massage time with our partners, during which, I will help and give guidance, help and praise when needed.
1:00 - 2:15 We take a late lunch break for 1 hour and 15 minutes during which we will share in a potluck or sack lunch so we stay together and get to know each other socially and share our experiences.
2:30pm - 4:30pm - We will have more hands-on time, discussion, learning and some demo work as well.
4:30pm - 5:00pm - Any last Q&A will happen at this time as well as feedback time and finally clean up and goodbyes.
It is important to me to hold space for couples to feel comfortable and free to try out massage. My intention is to allow couples to have fun, make mistakes, bond and get to know each other in deeper ways.
Like I said in the beginning of this post - these classes from December ‘07 to February ‘08 will be my first. I will be pricing them pretty cheep - according to industry standard - so that we can work out bugs and basically create the class together.
This is a unique and special opportunity to create a class for couples in the future to enjoy. Together we can craft, critique and create a class experience that really comes from the hearts of both the teacher (me) and the couples who choose to take part in this experience.
The *Day-long* aspect of the class is for the full immersion experience. The very best classes I have taken for massage have full-day sharing and bonding experiences. If this proves to be overkill… the schedule will change. We shall see!
Please enjoy and experience with me, this new venture! I’m so excited!

Seattle Business Networking Ago-go.

I’ve been having fun creating my own networking events lately.
I have a history of creating a monthly networking event but I stopped doing it about… a few months ago. Anyway, I gave it and myself a break.
Decided I was narrowing my options a bit TOO much and took a break to reflect on this. In other words: event-er’s block.
I am so glad to announce that the block is gone.
I go around to different places. Experience the food, the drink, the people, the atmosphere… and sometimes it occurs to me to hold an event at the place.
I just had another flash when I was out in Lynnwood at my mechanic’s place - Ryk Sorensen - excellent man and excellent mechanic. I was driving an odd way back to the freeway when it came to my mind to stop in at a brewery I’d visited at a networking event months ago.
Sure enough, they were open for lunch. I got a bite and interacted with one great Lady behind the bar. I had already had good experiences there before so it was natural to think of holding another event in the space.
So I put one on the calendar! On October 2nd - I’ll be at the Ellersick Brewing company in a warm and lovely Beer Garden. It will be warm…. yes. beer and a warm day… hmmm.
so come on out and mingle, mix and cause mayhem!
How to get Best results from your Massage LMP
Thursday, March 20th, 2008 | Deep Tissue, Featured, Massage, Seattle Events | No Comments
The best way to get the greatest massage from a great Licensed Massage Practitioner is to book well in advance.
I have always performed the best massages when my clients book in advance. It’s not easy to explain, but having an idea of who I’m massaging in a month from now seems comforting somehow.
For me, I have my own reasons why booking in advance are my favorite ways to manage my schedule. For other LMP’s - they have other reasons for wanting advance booking but I have found that it’s a common preference.
I have a Business Support Group for LMP’s once in a while. The last one I did (besides today) was in November. I posted it about 2 months before it was going to happen.
I had great attendance. Today’s group was posted 3 weeks ago… something like that. And no one showed up :(!
I should have known. Massage therapist’s need lots of time to sort out their schedules in order to make time for things like a group meeting thing.
Ah! My fellow massage therapists! We’re often such an archaic and loopy bunch!
But we are good at what we do! Most people I know are very glad there are people crazy enough to call themselves Massage Therapists and do this massage work. I’m glad too. I love getting massages and I know to book in advance. Same day appointments are silly… if you get them, you’re either paying too little for bad massage, you’re very lucky and God said you needed a massage today or you’re paying a metric ton of cash for a damn good rub and a massage artist to make time for your butt (literally) TODAY.
You get what you pay for.

I don’t have much to compare with, but I think Seattle has one of the richest cultures in the US. The Goth and bdsm cultures, for starters, are the most active here than in any other city, at least, that I have heard.
As an advocate for openness in lifestyle, I support the kink communities of my fair city Seattle with my “Alt-crew” happy hour.

Stress in the World, The 4:00 mystery

I snapped awake this morning at 4am and had a hard time getting back to sleep again.
Later, I talked to one of my closer biznik friends, Will Wright - a Kink-friendly Lawyer in Seattle, and he told me that four o’clock is a time that is known for it’s relationship to stress. Apparently, there’s some documentation and many cases where 4am is the time at which that many people afflicted with stress, would waking up. 4 am would be when they got up, regardless of how much sleep they have had or when they’d gone to bed. › Continue reading
